First day of Winter quarter

Nothing special, just tons of schoolwork and work. Hope everything goes well till the end. I thought i would have had an easy-going quarter with 3 classes and 2 labs. But eventually realized i should take 1 more class and lab so i would be able to concentrate on job seeking and prepare for the GMAT/GRE test in the last quarter. Thanksgiving break was awesome enough to have my energy regained for this quarter (even though i hardly found my way home last friday night and was so dead on the next day :(). Hopefully there is no more 2-hour sleep a day for me.

Nothing much these days, except for one thing. I’m kinda laid back for now just to think. (Me) Calling and emailing don’t help out… Rochester is getting cold, so are people.

Another new year is coming in 1 month or so. I hardly get anything done as promised this year. All the trips are canceled. Most plans are postponed. Bad lucks still linger around me. I got another parking ticket before the break since it was short of time to go to work and my bad vision didn’t allow me to see the reserved parking sign in a rainy day. There you go, a ticket and that’s not a good excuse :(.

I hate the rooster year!!!! (hehhe superstitous me)

Drinking coffee is not good because it will negatively impact your brain in long term. Brain malfunctions could be shown as:
+ Start out of your sleep everyday while the alarm is 1 hr away from start-off
+ Leave your apt door wide opened as you go to work
+ Can’t convert hex into dec number
+ Go to the cafeteria for lunch even though you know for sure it’s closed during break
+ Get in your car to buy books, …~45mins going around and around and stuff…, get out of your car you realize your books haven’t been bought yet. That means you have to get them tomorrow before the bookstore is closed for the break no matter how snowy it is.
+ Can’t even remember what you just finished 5 mins ago
+ Have no clue where you left your umbrella
+ Keep forgetting your close friends’ birthdays

Red everywhere (src: vnExpress)

Yay, we won. The first game of our national soccer team has threantened all the competitors by the win against Singapore. Actually being away from home and haven’t had any chance to see all the matches of our team lately, i have no clue how the team is doing except for updating myself sometimes by the news. Sadly pretty much i have known is corruptions among coaches and referees, age cheatings, score arrangements…so far so bad. Probably that’s the reason Vietnamese people are not very interested in national league even though they really want to. But their hearts and minds are always following and supporting the national team every single game they play. Thus it is not surprising as people go out the street with red on to cheer up.

I remember back then, 4-5 years ago, Le Huynh Duc, Van Sy Hung, Cong Minh, Hong Son were like soccer superstars to the nation though their best efforts didn’t make to a championship in any of the regional games. Yes, it was sad, but it was fun watching, screaming, shouting, laughing, and even !@*#^&*ing everytime the team played. Once the team won, we were just like other people, rushing out the street and joining in the flow of hundreds of people and all kind of vehicles going nowhere but just for shouting, honking, waving flags, and cheering each other. Red was every where, on everything, uniquely makes the streets distinguishable from any kind of festivals in Vietnam. A virtual festival per se… I hope these images are going to repeat with more joyful through all the games toward the end of Sea Geames. Go team !!!!
