Sáng nay thức dậy hình như cũng 2,3 lần thì phải. Lâu rồi chưa được ngủ nhiều như vậy. Tối hôm qua đi về nhà là chỉ có biết nhảy lên giường, không thèm tắm rửa gì hết. Hai ngày vật lộn trong lab cũng đem lại nhiều kết quả khả quan. Không dành chiến thắng nhưng cũng rút ra nhiều thứ quan trọng. Nhưng đội mình cũng xui thật, configure cái switch hòai không được. Đến gần cuối ngày thứ 5 thì mới biết đội khác cũng bị tương tự. Hóa ra là cái switch mà người ta giao cho bị lỗi. Thế là mất mấy tiếng đồng hồ vô ích trong khi các team khác đã gần xong. Thế là tức tốc bỏ luôn cái switch bỏ luôn 3 cái VLAN. Mất điểm! Sau phần cấu hình mấy cái services thì cài đặt EPO và IntruShield của McAfee. Công nhận “đồ chơi” này đã thiệt. Nhưng không có thời gian để tìm hiểu hết, đến 11g30 tối là người ta phải lock phòng lại rồi.

Sáng hôm sau (thứ 6) phải dậy sớm để vào làm tiếp. Hehhe, tối hôm qua về suy nghĩ mãi lắm mới viết được email xin nghĩ rất cảm động :D. Đến 9g thì bắt đầu phần attack&defense. Cũng hồi hộp không biết cái system mình có sống sót nổi với mấy người ở McAfee kô nữa. Theo dõi packets thì thấy người ta đang scan ports. Bỗng chợt nghĩ sao mình không bỏ đi port 80 của http rồi redirect traffic đến port 443 cho ssl. Nhưng lúc đó nếu configure máy rồi reboot máy lại thì mấy cái services tạm thời bị down. Thôi cứ để vậy, đến đâu thì đến. Cũng hơi lo lo cái DNS trên Windows vì không tin tưởng lắm :(. Ban đầu định dùng BIND trên Unix rồi, dễ kiểm sóat hơn. Nhưng cũng vì cái switch mà không có thời gian. Lâu lâu nhìn lên nhóm McAfee thì thấy mấy ông đó cũng nhìn xuống cười cười khá nham hiểm. Hahaha, chả biết mấy ổng dzô được tới đâu rồi, nghe nói là sẽ DOS với deface nữa. Nhưng quan sát traffic thì vẫn chưa thấy gì ngọai trừ cái scanning port đang ra vô…

Lunch break, ngồi nói chuyện mới biết người ta đã thử DOS rồi, nhưng không thành công hu’ hu’. Năm nay có tốt hơn năm ngóai nhiều, họ không vào thẳng được system nào, cũng không deface được trang web nào. Một số đội dùng được switch đã làm access control list rất tốt, tiếc quá. ra họcThật cũng được rất nhiều qua cuộc thi này, nhưng nghĩ cho cùng thì có lẽ McAfee cũng được lợi cả hai: 1-Đem thiết bị của họ ra testing; 2-quảng cáo…

Đến 4g chiều thì hấp tấp chạy đến chỗ làm. Lúc người ta chuẩn bị đi về thì mới lon ton đi vô. Thật ra cũng không siêng năng gì, nhưng tuần sau phải release version mới rồi, nên thấy hơi ấy náy hehe :D…

back here with a few updates

Last week was a long and tiring one, but I learned a lot. I dedicated most of my time to research on the future of web 2.0 and its possible market. The reason i thought of its “market” is because web 2.0’s developed by the contribution of the community and no longer an asset of an entity as opposed to 4-5 years ago. So it knows the market, it wins the race. My research yields out that almost every month since the beginning of 2005 there’s a start-up of some folks that launch their application with the based concept of web 2.0. Interestingly they all base in the west coast, silicon valley per se ;). Most of them started with their empty budget but they won the investors by their unique prototype and good future prediction (meebo folks is an example). And every single start-up utilizes AJAXbehind the scene to achieve the best user experience they could. To name a few: meebo.com, live.com, start.com, wallop.com, riva.com, netvibes.com, pageflakes.com, rapleaf.com, del.icio.us, etc… You may recognize some of them are products of the giants (live and start are Microsoft’s), but the rest started by individuals who have nothing but creativity (and a passion of coding of course). Yup, most of them are still beta version, hardly completed yet. And yes, there are a whole lot of stories to tell, but i think that’s good for now. I’m totally inspired and my ideas just get built up but it’s out when necessary

It’s interesting that I had two invitations for doing business with. One asked me if i’m interested in joining in their team to open a software company in VN whose mainstream products will be for stock market kind of thing. I’m kinda stepping back since i need some clarification and some inspiration for this. They said i know VN market better than they do - the thing is i know friends, not really the market though. They’re not gonna succeed unless researching the market before hand. The second one asked me if i can help him build a web application for an American University that will start to operate in Ho Chi Minh city soon. I’m not totally interested in this project since it involves whole bunch of burdens to worry (regulations, complexities). Of course i don’t want to give out something which is turned out a piece of junk and not responsible for it. I would like to help him if either i can contract this out or get some friends to work with (and if you are a designer with human factors and usability skills or programmer interested in some extra little money :), let me know).

This weekend’s gonna be busy again. I have a security contest on Thursday and Friday held by McAfee. We team up and defend from their attack in general. It would be fun. Other than that, lab practical :(.

yes, no, well, uhm, not really, maybe, who cares, i don’t know… i can count my conversations w/ my team today pretty much had no more than 3 words. Just don’t have any enthusiasm to do things and only want to finnish it up soon and get home. Another week and more fun ahead

Driving home, stopping by Mr.Mc for a burger and some fries, turning on the radio and finding myself murmuring to Daniel Powter. Alrite tune it up

That’s my mom. She’s so funny and always picks on everything i say. I love teasing her when saying things that she doesn’t want to (though i know she really likes me going home :D). She’s been so busy recently and stayed up so late to work on the paperwork since our company is going to move to our home -which i don’t like a mixed family-business environment, but that would be good for my parents not to leave the house for work every morning at their age. I feel so bad for not being able to help her out :(. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MOM again (April 5th).

I have to say thanks to “Tu heo” who is so supportive in taking care of a lot of things for dad. He really does a good job. He didn’t say me anything until my mom today told that he helped the company to sign a 10k contract. Of course it’s not a lot after we deduct all costs but he was really a connection for this one. No wonder why i always saw his YIM status all about “$$$” last month. Thought he was gambling or trading something

Still waiting for a response from my supervisor and I have already told him i’ll be gone for 3 weeks this summer. Can’t wait till then. I have to help my brother out as he will be graduating this year, and possibly discuss a possible business with Cong & PAnh if they are interested.
