Google crossing $700 border

Google crossed $700 border

It becomes real today after the Fed’s rate cut and a week of all down turns. Losing the biding war to Microsoft for Facebook’s stake didn’t really mean anything to Google’s investors. Congrats to those who owned its shares right in the first place. After rival Apple teamed up with AT&T for the revolutionary iPhone on their”slow” 2.75G EDGE network, Google’s now in serious talk with Verizon to subsidize it gPhone. This news though not official has proven the rumor is right. Google’s getting scary on this year Halloween. The company’s now having lots of capitals to win the auction of 700 Mhz spectrum. This is a powerful range in which radio signal can sustain its propagation over long distance, thus benefits the mobile devices in a variety of ways (stable bandwidth, wide coverage, low power consumption, etc…) . As the matter of fact, Apple is joining this auction as well.

UPDATE: it’s no longer correct. No GPhone, it’s Google operating system for mobile device instead.

Why is it in Flash?

Last week my professor wanted to show the class a news about how Microsoft is going to sell newly designed Zune to compete with Apple’s new iPod line when the holiday season is coming. He opened up the browser and typed http://video.msn.com. A message stopped him saying that he needed to install latest version of Flash player in order to view the page content. It gave him a link to download the player and as we all know, he was taken to Adobe’s site!!!

I was surprised. Never have I accessed this site but as of that day I’ve learned that Microsoft’s using its competitor’s product. May be Flash is gaining popularity right now but did Microsoft just launch a competitive product called “Silverlight” a few months ago? Microsoft has made big words on the product when it was released. The demo applications look very cool on the website with all smooth interactive motions and video streaming but it seems the company doesn’t see the product mature enough to put into its mainstream services like online video. Flash’s still dominant.

Santa Ana Wind

wild and fierce like this…
Santa Ana Wind
(look at the trash bin and trees away)

The only rose surviving in the garden yesterday
only one rose left
(sadly it’s gone with the wind today)

The beauty’s gone

the beauty's gone

The photo had been taken in my friend’s backyard one day before the wild santa ana wind came. His mother has been planting a pretty flowery garden and all of the sudden it was destroyed in one day. Nature has the power and it calls

My friend’s birthday

Hieu's birthday
